Building Inspector / Code Enforcement Officer
Position Summary
Posted Aug. 31, 2026Inspect new and existing buildings, including City facilities, and other structures to enforce conformance with building and zoning laws and help protect public safety. This public-facing position requires clear, professional communication with residents, property owners, contractors, and other members of the community.
Principal Duties
- • Inspect new and existing buildings, City facilities, and structures for compliance with applicable building and zoning laws.
- • Apply working knowledge of building standards, code enforcement, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems during inspections.
- • Communicate directly and professionally with the public regarding inspection findings and compliance requirements.
- • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED.
- • Valid Texas Class C driver license.
- • Five years of related experience or training in building standards, code enforcement, electrical work, plumbing work, mechanical work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Current certifications or inspection experience in Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Codes are a plus.
